Distribution System Modeling and Analysis, Second Edition (Electric Power Engineering Series)
First introduced in 2001, Kersting's Distribution System Modeling and Analysis is the only textbook on computational modeling for electric power distribution systems. Computer models are only as good as their input, and this intuitive work clearly explains the principles and mathematics behind these models and provides approximation methods that help students recognize when a result is not what it should be. Using the same authoritative yet accessible approach, this second edition was updated to reflect the changes and advances in the field since the first edition appeared. Nearly every chapter of this book has been updated according to new trends and areas of interest, new technologies, and the increasing spread of distributed generation. Most notably, this edition features a new chapter on the center-tapped transformer for providing three-wire service to single-phase customers. New discussions consider the effects of mutual coupling between overhead and underground lines running parallel for long distances, expand on the discussion of induction machines to consider the rotor circuit, and examine the effects of distributed generation technologies such as windmills on feeders. Illustrated with numerous figures, examples, and exercises, Distribution System Modeling and Analysis, Second Edition remains the definitive textbook for teaching students to understand and model all aspects of modern distribution systems..

Probabilistic Inductive Logic Programming (Lecture Notes in Computer Science)
The question, how to combine probability and logic with learning, is getting an increased attention in several disciplines such as knowledge representation, reasoning about uncertainty, data mining, and machine learning simulateously. This results in the newly emerging subfield known under the names of statistical relational learning and probabilistic inductive logic programming. This book provides an introduction to the field with an emphasis on the methods based on logic programming principles. It is concerned with formalisms and systems, implementations and applications, as well as with the theory of probabilistic inductive logic programming. The 13 chapters of this state-of-the-art survey start with an introduction to probabilistic inductive logic programming; moreover the book presents a detailed overview of the most important probabilistic logic learning formalisms and systems such as relational sequence learning techniques, using kernels with logical representations, Markov logic, the PRISM system, CLP(BN), Bayesian logic programs, and the independent choice logic. The third part provides a detailed account of some show-case applications of probabilistic inductive logic programming. The final part touches upon some theoretical investigations and includes chapters on behavioural comparison of probabilistic logic programming representations and a model-theoretic expressivity analysis.

Get a Job Curriculum
Focus on job interview skills. Objective: Prepare students with significant learning and behavioral disabilities, cognitive challenges, and physical disabilities for post-school work opportunities. Job-related social and self-management skills are essential for students with special needs. Workers with disabilities regularly lose jobs because of difficulties with social situations in job settings. To be successful in getting and keeping a job, students with disabilities need interview skills, social skills in a variety of areas, and most of all preparedness for the many and varied challenges of a job setting. As a result, they need lots of time to learn and practice vocational skills. This curriculum teaches such competencies as the ability to self-examine one's strengths and weaknesses, creative problem-solving skills, self-confidence and assertiveness, advocacy skills, and accepting responsibility. Coauthored by speech-language pathologist Corinne Thomas-Kersting and special education teacher and occupational therapist Dona Schumacher..

Tacita Dean: Seven Books
Description: Book One: Selected Writings offers an illustrated and complete collection of the texts Tacita Dean has written concerning films and other projects she has made between 1992 and the present. Book Two: 12.10.02 - 21.12.02 reprints the artist's book Dean made for her show at the Kunstverein fr die Rheinlande und Westfalen in October 2002. The exhibition dates provide the title of the book, which in turn relates to the discovery and filming of Marcel Broodthaers' studio, his Section Cinema in Dsseldorf and the works that were inspired by this. Book Three: W. G. Sebald gives homage to the German writer who was killed in a car accident in 2001. It takes its starting point from a reference in his book The Rings of Saturn and then weaves a meandering narrative between history and autobiography, England and Germany, and ends up, strangely enough, in Texas. Book Four: The Russian Ending shows a set of 20 photogravures made by the artist in 2001. From found postcards the artist made fictional sad endings for films, borrowing from the early days of the Danish Film Industry when it was necessary to make two endings: a happy one for the Americans and a sad one for the Russians. Book Five: Boots is a soliloquy presented in three languages: English, French and German. Each version is a different fictional take on the movement and musings of the character, Boots, in a villa in Portugal. Though it looks like a film script, the book is in fact a transcription of the action in a film with the same name. Book Six: Complete Works and Filmography, 1991 - 2003 is exactly what it says it is. Book Seven: Essays includes texts by Julia Garimorth, Rita Kersting, Jean-Luc Nancy and Michael Newman with a foreword by Laurence Bossa, Senior Curator at ARC/Musea d'art moderne de la ville de Paris..
