Healing for Horses: The Essential Guide to Using Hands-On Healing Energy with Horses
".highly recommended it makes the subject of healing easy to understand for everyone "--Blyth Tait, Olympic Gold Medal winner.

Lay your hands on a horse--and channel comforting, healing energy to him. A legendary healer, famous for her ability to deal with horses and their problems, shows you how. Anyone can apply these techniques to improve an equine's well-being and behavior: they're safe, free of side effects, and work on just about any condition. Use them alone or with other remedies so they'll work on a deeper level. After understanding what these methods do and why they benefit horses so much, you'll find out how to give a treatment. Where to put your hands is of utmost importance, and a chart guides you to the points on a horse's body that affect different conditions. Target specific ailments (like old age, arthritis, and grief), provide first aid, and give comfort. Prevent problems, too, and produce a feeling of inner calm in your horse. And, in case you didn't know, horses have chakras, too--areas of maximum energy intake that have particular power. When you lay hands over these points, you'll feel the resistance of energy flowing out. Find out about other natural therapies as well (including homeopathy and massage)--and read over the case histories: they're informative and inspiring! A Main Selection of the Doubleday Select Equestrian Club.

Japanese Experience: Inevitable, The (In the Floating World: Slash with a Knife, 1999)
At first sight, it appears brand new, pure Tokyo pop. But The Japanese Experience: Inevitable reveals far more than the successful cloning of morphed manga motifs onto stretched canvas and museum walls. It represents eight positions in contemporary Japanese art and scrutinizes their complex visual vocabulary, noting references to Japanese and Western art traditions as frequently as the borrowing of mass culture motifs from the realms of manga and anime. Takashi Murakami's MR. DOB questions the place of contemporary art in our global society; Aya Takano's glowing watercolors combine Japanese sensitivity, issues of female identity, and sci-fi; Masahiko Kuwahara's mutant animals provide shades of softness and mysterious openness, and Yoshitomo Nara's reworking of historical Japanese woodcuts disturbs the floating world. Not only are the artists' visual repertoires new and surprising, but their creative methods and strategies help conquer a public that is mostly untouched by contemporary art. Published in association with the Ursula Blickle Foundation..

Nonsexist Research Methods: A Practical Guide
In accessible and jargon-free language, Margrit Eichler provides a systematic approach to identifying, eliminating, and preventing sexist bias in social science research. She begins with a general discussion of the problems and implications of sexism in research, and then identifies four primary sources of bias: androcentricity, overgeneralization, gender insensitivity, and double standards. Three derivative sources of bias -- sex appropriateness, familism, and sexual dichotism -- are also discussed.

Each chapter defines a problem and provides illustrative examples drawn from recently published work. In the concluding chapter, Eichler outlines a step-by-step approach to avoiding the intrduction of sexist bias at each phase of the research process. She also provides concrete suggestions for eliminating bias in titles, language, research design, concepts, research methods, data interpretation, and policy evaluations and recommendations. The book includes a Nonsexist Research Checklist that is designed as a handy reference to be used during the research process.

Nonsexist Research Methods is appropriate to both quantitative and qualitative analysis. Written specially with students in mind, this book will prove invaluable to researchers and research methods courses in sociology, political science, economics, pyschology, anthropology, and women's studies.
