From the supplier: Government-provided income transfers are an important source of income for many Montana citizens. Transfers increased more rapidly than labor income in the late 1980s but decreased a little behind the rate of labor income growth in the early 1990s. From 1985 to 1993, transfer payments made up a consistent fraction of personal income, rising from about 18% of personal income to approximately 20% in 1993. Retirement and medical transfer payments make up a significant portion of household income in the state.
