Sanfilippo and Son Inc. bought Fisher Nut Co. from Procter and Gamble Co. in Nov. 1995, about 18 months after it started contract-packaging Fisher brands for Procter and Gamble at an Arlington Heights, IL, plant. Sanfilippo, which has been selling nuts since 1992, has big plans for Fisher, one of the country's top-selling brands. For starters, it plans to increase Fisher's production and bring back its baking-nut business.
