From the supplier: Radio talk shows are supplanting regular news casts particularly in the AM stations. Radio stations which are facing economic difficulties find it easier to fill time with local and syndicated talk shows rather than maintain full fledged news departments. The Indianapolis station WIBC-AM is one station that has had to reduce its news staff, thereby lessening the quality of its reporting. Moreover, news is more and more being presented in a talk-show fashion, with stories chosen for their entertainment value. However, there still are successful stations committed to complete news coverage.
