Leon McCracken met his bride-to-be, Peggy Gunn, when he was 22 and she was 14. They later learned were born only one mile apart, in contiguous Texas counties, but attended different schools She was a high school junior; he a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a college student. They moved from his hometown of Quitaque to Pecos in 1952. Peggy describes those early years in this, her second book of memoirs; his work at a cottonoil mill, her office work and 36 years in the newspaper business. She uses photos to introduce their two children, five grandchildren and three great-grands. Pecos people may find their names in columns she has used with permission of the Pecos Enterprise.
