Traffic Management: Planning, Operations, and Control
A complete, modern introduction to traffic management! The book covers the latest topics critical to effective traffic management in a deregulated environment--contracting, shipment costing, negotiating, anti- trust, electronic data interchange, transportation planning, information system support, and control. It also takes new approaches to several traditional topics. The discussion of transportation pricing emphasizes issues, concepts, and planning implications instead of technical procedures. In addition, because of its importance to strategic transportation planning, shipment consolidation is treated as a major subject and not as a by-product of the traditional "terminal and accessorial services" topic. The volume includes checklists, step-by-step procedures, and other reference material found in end-of-chapter appendices, vignettes summarizing actual company experiences, and numerous practical examples. It also includes selected topical questions taken from past American Society of Transportation and Logistics exams used in its professional certification program..

Measuring transport costing error in customer aggregation for facility location.: An article from: Transportation Journal
This digital document is an article from Transportation Journal, published by American Society of Transportation and Logistics, Inc. on March 22, 1994. The length of the article is 5657 words. The page length shown above is based on a typical 300-word page. The article is delivered in HTML format and is available in your Amazon.com Digital Locker immediately after purchase. You can view it with any web browser. From the supplier: A study on customer clustering was done to determine its impact on facility location and transport costing error. Costing error was affected by shipment size, number of facilities to be located and maximum cluster size in systems where 100-200 customer clusters are used. Limiting the cluster size is advantageous because it allows cluster size to increase and maintains a cluster center that is close to customer concentrations. Results also showed that the minimum number of clusters in a location analysis should parallel the number of facilities located in a network.
