From the supplier: There are various approaches to editing Old Norse literature. Linguists and some followers of the new philology like diplomatic editions, although critical, normalized editions for the popular consumer will probably always have a place. The trend to search for the 'Urtext' and the certainty of some scribal error have both militated against diplomatic editions and in favor of methods of approximating what the original might have looked like in a normalized one. Modern technology has made possible advances such as manuscript dating with paleographic evidence and using computers to help with text-editing.
