Brain Teasers
Learn to "think outside the box" with Brain Teasers, a book of mental puzzles by Kiran Srinivas!

This exciting and diverse collection of mental puzzles will equip you with the valuable ability to "think outside the box." Brain Teasers teaches creative, non-standard approaches to problem solving, and will force you to think in ways you never have before. Brain Teasers includes many interview puzzles, and if you plan to interview at an investment bank, consulting firm, high-tech firm, or in any other related field, mastery of the puzzles and the logic attached can be the deciding factor in getting that offer. Although many of the puzzles are difficult and challenging, a middle-school education is sufficient to enable you to solve almost all of them. Also included are popular interview questions given at Microsoft and Goldman Sachs, old-time favorites of celebrities such as Warren Buffet, Lewis Caroll, and John F. Kennedy, and new puzzles created by the author.

Brain Teasers might initially strain your brain, but it offers ample opportunity to expand your creative and mental abilities as you "learn to think outside the box.".

IP Quality of Service (Networking Technology)

The complete resource for understanding and deploying IP quality of service for Cisco networks

Learn to deliver and deploy IP QoS and MPLS-based traffic engineering by understanding:

  • QoS fundamentals and the need for IP QoS
  • The Differentiated Services QoS architecture and its enabling QoS functionality
  • The Integrated Services QoS model and its enabling QoS functions
  • ATM, Frame Relay, and IEEE 802.1p/802.1Q QoS technologies and how they work with IP QoS
  • MPLS and MPLS VPN QoS and how they work with IP QoS
  • MPLS traffic engineering
  • Routing policies, general IP QoS functions, and other miscellaneous QoS information

Quality-of-service (QoS) technologies provide networks with greater reliability in delivering applications, as well as control over access, delay, loss, content quality, and bandwidth. IP QoS functions are crucial in today's scalable IP networks. These networks are designed to deliver reliable and differentiated Internet services by enabling network operators to control network resources and use. Network planners, designers, and engineers need a thorough understanding of QoS concepts and features to enable their networks to run at maximum efficiency and to deliver the new generation of time-critical multimedia and voice applications.

IP Quality of Service serves as an essential resource and design guide for anyone planning to deploy QoS services in Cisco networks. Author Srinivas Vegesna provides complete coverage of Cisco IP QoS features and functions, including case studies and configuration examples. The emphasis is on real-world application-going beyond conceptual explanations to teach actual deployment.

IP Quality of Service is written for internetworking professionals who are responsible for designing and maintaining IP services for corporate intranets and for service provider network infrastructures. If you are a network engineer, architect, manager, planner, or operator who has a rudimentary knowledge of QoS technologies, this book will provide you with practical insights on what you need to consider when designing and implementing various degrees of QoS in the network. Because incorporating some measure of QoS is an integral part of any network design process, IP Quality of Service applies to all IP networks-corporate intranets, service provider networks, and the Internet.

Tropicopolitans: Colonialism and Agency, 16881804 (Post-Contemporary Interventions)
In Tropicopolitans Srinivas Aravamudan reconstructs the colonial imagination of the eighteenth century. By exploring representations of peoples and cultures subjected to colonial discourse, he makes a case for the agency—or the capacity to resist domination—of those oppressed. Aravamudan’s analysis of texts that accompanied European commercial and imperial expansion from the Glorious Revolution through the French Revolution reveals the development of anticolonial consciousness prior to the nineteenth century.
“Tropicalization” is the central metaphor of this analysis, a term that incorporates both the construction of various dynamic tropes by which the colonized are viewed and the site of the study, primarily the tropics. Tropicopolitans, then, are those people who bear and resist the representations of colonialist discourse. In readings that expose new relationships between literary representation and colonialism in the eighteenth century, Aravamudan considers such texts as Behn’s Oroonoko, Defoe’s Robinson Crusoe and Captain Singleton, Addison’s Cato, and Swift’s Gulliver’s Travels and The Drapier’s Letters. He extends his argument to include analyses of Johnson’s Rasselas, Beckford’s Vathek, Montagu’s travel letters, Equiano’s autobiography, Burke’s political and aesthetic writings, and Abbé de Raynal’s Histoire des deux Indes. Offering a radical approach to literary history, this study provides new mechanisms for understanding the development of anticolonial agency.
Introducing eighteenth-century studies to a postcolonial hermeneutics, Tropicopolitans will interest scholars engaged in postcolonial studies, eighteenth-century literature, and literary theory.
