Association Football in Victorian England - A History of the Game from 1863 to 1900
Prior to the 1870s, Association Football tended to be enjoyed as a form of exercise at public schools or a game between friends in a local park. However, with the administrative skills of the likes of Charles Alcock, Francis Marindin, Arthur Kinnaird and William McGregor, the game grew to such an extent that it became an important part in the lives of both players and spectators as the century reached its end. The history of the early clubs, international games, as well as the growth of the professional clubs, are all encompassed in this book, including the likes of Aston Villa, Manchester United and Liverpool, when they started out as struggling little clubs..

Criminals and Demigods
Reverend Steven Stone is a respected priest and philosopher who just also happens to be a convicted terrorist. Thomas O'Neil is an ex-FBI agent who befriends him after his release in order to unravel the truth behind Stone's capture, trial and harsh imprisonment. Prompted by the curiosity of his young questioner, Stone slowly unburdens his soul and paints a harrowing picture of life inside a maximum-security penitentiary; a life of solitary confinement, violence and moral and intellectual degradation from which few emerge unscathed or repentant. As Stone attempts to come to terms with his shattering experiences and his appalling treatment as one of America's most notorious criminals, Thomas seeks to discover the truth behind the US government's condemnation and persecution of his companion. Is he victim and scapegoat of the world's most celebrated democratic system of justice - or is he in fact a cynical manipulator and murderer?.

The Saga of Lucky Jordan - The Autobiography of an Airman
The author began his service career at the age of sixteen in early 1938 as a boy entrant in the RAF at Cranwell, Lincolnshire, where he was trained as a wireless operator. At the beginning of the Second World War when stationed at Northwood, with HQ Coastal Command, he was involved in a number of situations during air raids upon London. He later flew as an aircrew member on Mitchell, Liberator, and Halifax bombers with Coastal Command. Narrowly escaping death on several occasions he was encouraged by a number of 'spirit' messages he received - through the mediumship of a retired elderly medium - from his dead father and several RAF comrades killed earlier in the war. The medium also described to him the features and characteristics of a young woman he was destined to meet and marry in a sunny land. An event that happened two years later, when he met Rena in Greece - after his aircraft was forced to remain at Athens because of engine trouble. After the war he flew on Dakota aircraft with Transport Command, flying throughout India, Pakistan, Egypt and Greece - where his plane was shot down by Communist forces after accidentally overflying the border with Yugoslavia. He became stationed in Greece in 1949 where, after a series of incidents, he married Rena and they returned to the UK in 1950. Since then they have remained together - happily married for over fifty years..
