The Trouble with Cauliflower
Sadie has made her best friend Mortimer a delicious stew . . . with cauliflower! Doesn't Sadie know that cauliflower causes extreme bad luck? Out of courtesy Mortimer eats the stew, and as he expects, has the worst day ever. But when Sadie tricks him into eating cauliflower again the next day, Mortimer has a day full of good luck (he even wins a free pizza!) and is forced to give up his silly superstitions . . . until he drinks lemonade, of course. Drinking lemonade always causes it to rain! Jane Sutton has created two truly lovable new characters and Jim Harris brings them to life with his charming illustrations that are full of funny details..

When Cauliflower Was King
The book describes the birth, growth and demise of the cauliflower growing industry in the Catskills For a good part of the 20th century, the Catskills, in particular Delaware County, grew what was widely considered the best cauliflower anywhere. Mineral-rich soil, and a moderate climate with warm days and cool nights that usually allowed slow and solid head development, made this region famous for its premium quality cauliflower. Almost every farm in the region planted some "white gold" to supplement their income. Growers established marketing cooperatives in Margaretville, Walton and Bovina to increase efficiency and maximize profit. Through the 1950s, `60s and '70s, some larger cauliflower operations in the region hung on. Today, cauliflower is no longer grown commercially in the Catskills, a fact that saddens many of those who remember when..

Lady Rutherfurd's Cauliflower
PublisherÂ’s Intro On March 23rd 2005, poet JJ Jameson was arrested in Chicago Twenty years earlier JJ Jameson under his rightful name, Norman Porter, escaped from a Massachusetts prison. Mr. Jameson and Mr. Porter both have amazing stories. I have known him during his years in Chicago and believe he is a reformed man. He has done many good deeds in his lifetime as JJ Jameson. Many of these involved a personal, private, one-on-one involvement in the problems and sufferings of others. He did more with his twenty years as JJ Jameson than many do in a lifetime. Here is his poetry. This is his voice, unfiltered by newspaper reports or editorial comments. This is him speaking to you, the reader, one-on-one. The original book was published in 1999. It measured four inches by eight and a half inches. It was a uniquely formatted fold out chapbook. Mr. Jameson was an artisan and occasionally built furniture or cabinets for people. He considered these books works of art and nearly all of the original books were assembled and bound personally by him. I have made an effort to retain the original flavor of the book. I have used the fonts, poem order, and page numbers from the original book. I have tried to reproduce the original cover style. As this book is published Norman Porter is waiting for his trial in Massachusetts. I hope his voice as JJ Jameson will speak to you through these pages, and that JJ Jameson will not be forgotten.
