From the supplier: Mergers between Catholic and non-Catholic hospitals often result in the imposition of restrictive Catholic health care policies on the non-Catholic institutions. Catholic hospitals are governed by a set of directives that prohibit abortion, vasectomies, tubal ligations, in vitro fertilization, and distribution of contraceptives. The institutions are also not required to honor living wills or advance directives that go against Catholic teaching.
Citation DetailsTitle: BAD MEDICINE: when Catholic and non-Catholic hospitals merge, women's health care services often get excommunicated.
