From the supplier: The relationship between insurance agents and insurance companies has deteriorated despite the results of a 1997 survey by the National Assn of Professional Insurance Agents (PIA) that seems to show the opposite. The survey revealed much more satisfaction than 1992 and 1987 surveys. However, this satisfaction is more the result of an improved economy than underlying improvements. Problems such as reduced commissions, increased volume requirements, and the banking industry's entry into the insurance business have actually worsened relations.
