From the supplier: Maryland's Prince George's County school district is running a full-featured voice mail system on low-end computers. The district is using Sync Data's SyncMail system to improve attendance and communications between parents and teachers. The system is accessed by any touch-tone telephone and provides an unlimited number of voice-mail boxes. The system will automatically call students' homes to make general announcements or report absences. The basic system handles two telephone lines, but can be expanded to handle 14 lines. The district's Surratsville High School also uses SyncMail as a homework hotline, and some teachers are using the system to distribute extra-credit assignments. The parents on the school's Parent Advisory Committee are also using the system to communicate with each other.
