Gleanings in Genesis
Appropriately Genesis has been termed "the seed plot of the Bible," for in it we have, in germ form, almost all of the great doctrines which are afterwards fully developed in the books of Scripture which follow. This complete edition of Gleanings in Genesis is a thoughtful work on the old testament by evangelist and biblical scholar Arthur W. Pink. Gleanings in Genesis has been a popular published work for scholars and patrons of christianity for centuries. Atlas Pocket Classics: France: (Travels with a Donkey, Gleanings in France, A Motor-flight through France)
An elegant boxed set of travel classics about France, with an introduction from the best-selling author of Le Divorce.

In this inaugural edition of our Atlas Pocket Classics series, Diane Johnson introduces three masterpieces of travel writing. Robert Louis Stevenson's Travels with a Donkey is the notebook he kept during his respite from poor health, tormented love, and inadequate friends—a thoroughly entertaining account of the French people and their country. James Fenimore Cooper's Gleanings in France, one of his rarest works, is an elegant collection of his letters home; he offers a discriminating portrait of France in the last days of its final experiment with monarchy, and offers practical advice on the art of travel. Edith Wharton proclaims in the opening lines of A Motor-flight through France that "the motor-car has restored the romance of travel"—then sets off in the new invention to explore the cities and countryside of the nation she loved above all; Wharton's spirited account of her journey is a declaration of her passion for travel and her deep affinity for the people and places of France..

Extracts from the Letters of Samuel Rutherford (Gleanings from the Past)
The letters of Samuel Rutherford (1600-1661) have been a source of encouragement and inspiration to Christians for over 350 years; but to the modern reader their language and structure can often hinder the enjoyment of their true value. In 1913, Hamilton Smith (1862-1943) set out to make the heart of the letters (and of Rutherford himself) more accessible to the reader of his day. He organised a selection of extracts under topical headings covering such themes as warning, peace, evil, the Devil, death, comfort, pilgrimage, glory and, above all, Christ. Retaining Rutherford's original text, with occasional explanatory footnotes, he created a volume of devotional readings which have stood the test of time in sharing Rutherford's passion for the love of Christ. The publisher is pleased to make this classic work available once again..

Gleanings in Buddha-Fields: Studies of Hand and Soul in the Far East (Forgotten Books)
Book Description:

"The third book of Lafcadio Hearn's Japanese period, Gleanings in Buddha-Fields is a volume of philosophical essays and sketches inspired by the teachings of Buddha. Through a series of loosely connected essays, the author offers readers a wealth of insights into Japanese life, art and religion. When the book was first published in 1897, it attracted the attention of The New York Times: "It is only Mr. Hearn who has made us understand something of the Japanese way of looking at life and things, something of that religion which is the very soul and substance of Japanese existence, thought, and action." Today's readers are sure to recognize the elegance and depth of thought which have made the work a classic." (Quote from columbia.edu)

Gleanings from Robert Govett
Synopsis of the Book

Robert Govett was born in 1813 and died in 1901. A fellow of Worcester College, Oxford, he possessed brilliant intellectual gifts and became highly respected by peers of his day. With an acute ability or gifting to use logic to weed out any weakness in a point of theology few men equalled him in ordered debate. As an author of numerous books and pamphlets, and a pastor of an independent fellowship at Norwich, England, Govett is best known for his insights concerning the judgment seat, believer's rewards, and the more practical aspects of sanctification. With his intense devotion to the Scriptures over the course of his lifelong study of the Word he also developed quite an understanding of the meaning behind many of the types, shadows, and symbols of Scripture.

Though in recent years knowledge of his ministry and his message has been limited to a relatively small number of Bible scholars, this book places, within the reach of the Christian of our day, many of the deeper truths of Scripture; truths that burned in the hearts of Christians such as, Hudson Taylor, G. H. Pember, Evan Roberts and Jessie Penn Lewis, over a century ago. Containing almost three-hundred pages of powerful insights "gleaned" from his numerous writings, a great portion of what he attained from over sixty years of ministry and study is now available through this book in an easy to read format. .
