Immersed in Verse: An Informative, Slightly Irreverent & Totally Tremendous Guide to Living the Poet's Life
Poetry's hip, poetry's hot, and poetry's a blast with this cool, contemporary guide created in the same entertaining style as the popular In Print!

Kids instinctively love poetry--its rhythm, its rhymes, and its playful transformation of ordinary language. And these days, such cutting-edge, youthful forms as rap, hip-hop, and slams have made poetry more relevant than ever. With its fun facts, exciting writing activities, and words of encouragement from a respected professional, Immersed in Verse nurtures the nascent poet in every child. Best of all, these awe-inspiring ideas have nothing in common with blah school assignments. Instead, youngsters rearrange their favorite (or least favorite) poems; start their own poetry workshop; present “open mike night” in the basement; and record their friends reciting. Along the way, they'll open more than a few “poet's toolboxes.” They'll explore the wonderful world of words and learn about attitude, equipment, techniques (including “metaphors be with you”), different styles of verse, revising your writing, getting published, and performing.

Allan Wolf has served as the educational director for the national touring company Poetry Alive! His books include The Blood-Hungry Spleen and Other Poems about Our Parts and New Found Land. He lives in North Carolina with his wife and three children.

The Immersed Interface Method: Numerical Solutions of PDEs Involving Interfaces and Irregular Domains (Frontiers in Applied Mathematics)
This text provides an introduction to the immersed interface method (IIM), a powerful numerical method for solving interface problems and problems defined on irregular domains for which analytic solutions are rarely available. It provides a complete description of the IIM, discusses recent progress in the area, and describes numerical methods for a number of classic interface problems. It also contains many numerical examples that can be used as benchmark problems for numerical methods designed for interface problems on irregular domains. Particular topics include the IIM's applications to Stefan problems and unstable crystal growth, incompressible Stokes and Navier-Stokes flows with moving interfaces, an inverse problem identifying unknown shapes in a region, a nonlinear interface problem of magnetorheological fluids containing iron particles, and other problems. The book also contains several applications of free boundary and moving interface problems, including examples from physics, computational fluid mechanics, mathematical biology, material science, and other fields..

Differential Forms and Applications (Universitext)
The book treats differential forms and uses them to study some local and global aspects of the differential geometry of surfaces Differential forms are introduced in a simple way that will make them attractive to "users" of mathematics. A brief and elementary introduction to differentiable manifolds is given so that the main theorem, namely the Stokes' theorem, can be presented in its natural setting. The applications consist in developing the method of moving frames of E. Cartan to study the local differential geometry of immersed surfaces in R3 as well as the intrinsic geometry of surfaces. Everything is then put together in the last chapter to present Chern's proof of the Gauss-Bonnet theorem for compact surfaces..

Immersed in the Sacred: Discovering the "Small S" Sacraments
Immersed in the Sacred is an invitation to find the holy in the people, places, activities, and objects that fill our days. Through personal reflections on her own "ordinary" life, Kathy Coffey encourages each of us to explore our lives and to find the sacred that surrounds us. Whether it's a beautiful mountain view or a simple hotel room, every place can be a doorway to the sacred. And every activity can be a vehicle for grace, whether it's a shared meal with family or friends or huffing and puffing our way through an aerobics class. While respecting the sacraments celebrated in church, how do we also find the holy in the office, home, garage, or shop? Immersed in the Sacred shows us..
