Active Isolated Strengthening: The Mattes Method
The Aaron Mattes Method of strength training is highly specific While it is holistic and treats the body as a unit, its primary characteristic is its capability ot break down the body to treat isolated parts. There are protocols for every primary muscle of the body. The book follows the training specificity principle by identifying and resolving specific strength and functional deficits. The Mattes Method then employs full range of motion movements to contract and stengthen targeted muscles while at the same time stretches the opposing muscles. The result is increased muscle strength, joint flexibility and balance across the joints..

Design of Seismic Isolated Structures: From Theory to Practice
Complete, practical coverage of the evaluation, analysis, and design and code requirements of seismic isolation systems

Based on the concept of reducing seismic demand rather than increasing the earthquake resistance capacity of structures, seismic isolation is a surprisingly simple approach to earthquake protection. However, proper application of this technology within complex seismic design code requirements is both complicated and difficult.

Design of Seismic Isolated Structures provides complete, up-to-date coverage of seismic isolation, complete with a systematic development of concepts in theory and practical application supplemented by numerical examples. This book/CD-ROM set helps design professionals navigate and understand the ideas and procedures involved in the analysis, design, and development of specifications for seismic isolated structures. It also provides a framework for satisfying code requirements while retaining the favorable cost-effective and damage control aspects of this new technology. An indispensable resource for practicing and aspiring engineers and architects, Design of Seismic Isolated Structures includes:
* Isolation system components.
* Complete coverage of code provisions for seismic isolation.
* Mechanical characteristics and modeling of isolators.
* Buckling and stability of elastomeric isolators.
* Examples of seismic isolation designs.
* Specifications for the design, manufacture, and testing of isolation devices..

Isolated: Two Plays
Isolated collects two plays by an original dramatic voice.

In Recovery, people around the world are addicted to a mysterious substance. Large recovery centers are set up, promising refuge, treatment, and healing to millions of addicts. But all is not what it seems. Following three residents of a facility in Antarctica, Recovery is a subtle, quirky, and disturbing play of Orwellian proportions about the commodification of fear, the oppression of the individual, and the blinding consequences of a medicalized society.

In Get Away,a strange malaise is leaving people listless and apathetic. David escapes to a cabin in the woods where he discovers two hauntingly beautiful teenagers. Sensing that they might be the key to his survival, and wanting to protect them, he invites them in. The three become dangerously intertwined, and it becomes unclear who is the predator and who is the prey. Part fairy tale and part horror film, Get Away is a haunting look at the destructive nature of longing and our desperate need for love.

Experiences of an Ornithologist Along the Highways and Byways of Bolivia: Collecting Birds in an Isolated, Magnificent Land in the Nineteen Thirties
Experiences of an Ornithologist Along the Highways and Byways of Bolivia, South America is the extraordinary, fascinating account by intrepid ornithologist, Melbourne Armstrong Carriker, Jr., of his three ornithological expeditions in Bolivia in the 1930s. He and his assistants collected a total of 8,705 bird specimens, including some new species, and many new species of bird lice. His lively, colorful, descriptive, often humorous, piquant accounts make highly entertaining reading. He worked from the steaming jungles to the high mountains, often subjected to tropical diseases, poisonous plants and animals, poor diets, extreme physical exertion, and stress. Incredibly, he survived without major accidents. The disappointments, hardships, occasional adversarial situations, as well as pleasurable experiences, are described vividly, sometimes poignantly..

Singular Stochastic Differential Equations (Lecture Notes in Mathematics)

The authors introduce, in this research monograph on stochastic differential equations, a class of points termed isolated singular points. Stochastic differential equations possessing such points (called singular stochastic differential equations here) arise often in theory and in applications. However, known conditions for the existence and uniqueness of a solution typically fail for such equations. The book concentrates on the study of the existence, the uniqueness, and, what is most important, on the qualitative behaviour of solutions of singular stochastic differential equations. This is done by providing a qualitative classification of isolated singular points, into 48 possible types.
