Marsupial Sue Book and CD
If you're a Kangaroo

through and through,

Just do what Kangaroos do.

Young Sue really doesn't like being a kangaroo, so she goes off to find something better. First she tries climbing the trees like a koala, but that doesn't work. Then she wades into the sea like a platypus, but that's no good either. Finally, Sue joins up with some bouncy, jouncy wallabies ..and discovers that being a kangaroo isn't so bad, after all.

Using a jaunty waltz rhythm, actor, comedian, and best-selling author John Lithgow reassures children that they can be happy with who they are.

For listening or singing along, a CD of a John Lithgow performance of Marsupial Sue and an instrumental version is included with this book, as is the score of the song..

Chasing Kangaroos: A Continent, a Scientist, and a Search for the World's Most Extraordinary Creature
In his most personal book yet, Tim Flannery, the internationally acclaimed author of The Weather Makers, draws on three decades of travel, research, and field work to craft a love letter to his native land and one of its most unique and beloved inhabitants: the kangaroo Crisscrossing the continent, Flannery shows us how the destiny of this extraordinary creature is inseparable from the environment that created it. Along the way he uses encounters with ancient aboriginal cultures and eccentric fossil hunters, farmers and scientists, kangaroo advocates and kangaroo hunters, to explore how Australia’s deserts and rain forests have shaped human responses to the continent--and how kangaroos have  evolved to handle the resulting challenges. Ultimately, Chasing Kangaroos is a captivating blend of memoir, travel, natural history, and evolutionary science--and further proof of Flannery’s “offhand interdisciplinary brilliance” (Entertainment Weekly).

The Kangaroo Pouch: A Story About Gestational Surrogacy For Young Children
The Kangaroo Pouch introduces young children to the concept of surrogacy Narrated by a young kangaroo character, whose mother has decided to help another family in their efforts to have a child, the story gently guides the reader through the surrogate's decision-making process, the pregnancy, and the resulting baby that is then given back to the biological parents.

The book is designed to act not only as a conversation starter for surrogates with their own families; but also as a "how-to" manual for their children to refer to throughout the process.

The author, Sarah Phillips Pellet, who herself was a surrogate on behalf of a close family member, wrote The Kangaroo Pouch for this purpose with her own children in mind. When asked, "How are you going to tell the kids?" she thought, "I'll write a book, do some stick-figures to illustrate it, and read it to them". She did and discovered that her children would re-read the book throughout the duration of the pregnancy and afterwards. After the encouragement of many friends, relatives, and professionals to produce the book for other surrogates, she decided to have the book professionally illustrated by artist Laurie A. Faust.

The Kangaroo Pouch has been reviewed by both a child psychologist and a behavioral specialist to ensure that the story answers questions that a typical child would have and that it is communicated effectively..
