From the supplier: The decision on whether to use loadcells or level sensors for monitoring the tank contents in a food processing plant depends on the value of the tank's contents or the essentiality of precise measurements. Loadcells measure the mass of the contents and are, therefore, recommended when knowing the mass is essential in the process. Also, loadcells are needed when the value of the contents is relatively high. However, level sensors are more appropriate when installation costs of loadcells become prohibitive and accuracy is not as important.
Citation DetailsTitle: Level-headed choices: both level sensors and loadcells can be used to monitor tank contents, depending on the application and accuracy required.
