From the supplier: The pollution insurance market has grown larger than just the petrochemical business and hazardous waste generators, and now encompasses every industry. Insurers still offer a number of basic policies, but have begun tailoring them to the needs of specific industries, and the number of insurers in the pollution market has increased from 2 in 1988 to 20 in 1993. With this industry growth, however, has come the realization by federal and state lawmakers of the role of insurance as an alternative to costly environmental cleanup using taxpayer funds.
Citation DetailsTitle: Pollution ins. market has matured; pollution products are now being tailored to specific industries.
