The Metabolic Typing Diet: Customize Your Diet to Your Own Unique Body Chemistry
People are unique in more ways than we can see. Stomachs and other internal organs come in many different shapes and sizes. Digestive juices, too, can vary dramatically from one person to another Thus, according to author William Linz Wolcott, founder of Healthexcel, a company that provides metabolic typing for individuals, it stands to reason that different foods have very different effects on different people. Wolcott believes that tailoring your diet to your body's particular quirks--metabolic typing--will improve digestion, circulation, immunity, energy, and mood. To determine your type, he has you take a 65-question test (the questions range from nose moisture to how you feel about potatoes), then place yourself in one of three categories: protein type, carbo type, or mixed type. The protein type is instructed to eat a diet that's 40 percent protein, 30 percent fat, and 30 percent carbs. The carbo type gets 60 percent carbs, 25 percent protein, and 15 percent fat. And the mixed type should consume 50 percent carbs, 30 percent protein, and 20 percent fat, although this type has to play with the ratios a little more to find the optimal mix. Although The Metabolic Typing Diet is based on information from researchers the majority of the public will never have heard of, Wolcott makes a strong case that it's all based on common sense: most of the dietary problems we have come from ignoring the foods that make us feel satisfied and energetic in favor of ones that we feel we're supposed to eat, or foods that we eat in desperation because our last meal left us hungry or lethargic. If we just eat the foods that make us feel right, Wolcott argues, we'll never feel like things have gone horribly wrong. --Lou Schuler.

Freedom from Disease: The Breakthrough Approach to Preventing Cancer, Heart Disease, Alzheimer's, and Depression by Controlling Insulin
Foreword by Mehmet Oz, co-author of YOU: ON A DIET and YOU: AN OWNER'S MANUAL. This ground-breaking book reveals how insulin resistance is linked to heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer’s, overweight, childhood behavioral disorders, depression, high blood pressure, and more. It also provides information on how to get insulin under control. While insulin is most closely associated with diabetes it is, in fact, the culprit in the diseases that are making the American population ill -- heart disease, cancer, diabetes, stroke, and Alzheimer’s. Insulin is the hormone that helps the body use glucose, when insulin and glucose are out of balance glucose builds up in the blood, leading to inflammation which can cause disease in any number of the body’s systems. Drawing on the latest scientific research on the role insulin plays in the systems of the body, this book presents information on nutrition and exercise that will battle increased insulin levels, reduce insulin resistance, and keep the entire body healthy and free of disease. Nutrition and exercise are the keys to controlling insulin levels and keeping the entire body healthy and the book provides extensive information on how and what to eat to not only prevent disease and improve overall health – it explains the effect of insulin on physical and mental function and tells you what to do for a particular concern be it heart disease, brain aging, or diabetes. Freedom from Disease is comprehensive, well-researched, and will give you the tools you need to effectively reduce insulin levels and maintain excellent health. .

The Sinatra Solution: Metabolic Cardiology
There's no doubt about it-people with heart disease lack energy. The heart needs a large amount of oxygenated blood flow to continuously meet it huge energy demands That's where the new triad of cardiac health comes in-CoQ10, carnitine, and ribose. The synergistic combination of these energy-supplying nutrients maximizes the amount of oxygen that the heart and skeletal muscle can extract from the blood by accelerating the rate at which cells convert nutrients into energy. In "The Sinatra Solution", board-certified cardiologist Stephen T. Sinatra discusses the importance of energy metabolism on cardiovascular health and the positive impact these three energy-supplying nutrients have on the cardiovascular system. Dr.Sinatra knows that undestanding energy metabolism in the heart is critical to devising effective therapies for treating heart disease. He guides readers through he basics of energy metabolism and cardiac bioenergetics, and clearly explains the role of ribose, carintine, and CoQ10 in the body and specifically how they affect heart health. He presents concise and informative case histories and scientific studies that demonstrate the important contribution the supplemental use of these energy-supplying nutrients makes in the lives of people with heart disease every day. While the main focus of "The Sinatra Solution" is on improving heart health, this book also touches upon the positive effect the triad has on other diseases and disorders. Readers will learn how these miraculous nutrients work throughout the body, essentially charging up evry body cell to function at optimal capacity..

The Metabolic Plan: Stay Younger Longer
The choice is yours: You can add forty or more vigorous, fulfilling years to your life. It sounds like science fiction, but in fact it’s cutting-edge science grounded in exciting new research In The Metabolic Plan, internationally renowned biochemist Stephen Cherniske reveals the medical breakthroughs that enable all of us to extend our lives—and the quality of our lives—starting today. Far from giving out due to inevitable wear and tear, the human body is naturally endowed with astonishing powers of renewal, self-repair, and regeneration. The secret to unlocking these powers lies not in genetic tinkering or a high-tech fix but in “tricking” your body into adopting the metabolism of a twenty-year-old. The Metabolic Plan offers a comprehensive diet and exercise regimen specifically tailored to boost antioxidant levels, combat disease, increase muscle, reduce fat, and enhance memory and vision. Cherniske shares the age-defying properties of such cutting-edge supplements as 7-Keto and debunks myths about acid/alkaline foods. Here too are detailed metabolic plans geared to the different needs of men and women and to every decade of our lives—so we’ll know exactly what to focus on when. Longer life, more energy, improved health, a pervasive sense of well-being: It’s all within our grasp. At once revolutionary and eminently practical, this is the book that finally solves the puzzle of aging..

The Nutrition Solution: A Guide to Your Metabolic Type
What constitutes healthy eating, and a healthy weight, has become a hugely complex—and too often vexing—question for those looking to discover, attain, and maintain their ideal weight. The Nutrition Solution takes a fresh approach Based on the idea that no single diet is universally applicable to everyone, the book first shows readers how to determine their body type. Next, Dr. Kristal, who runs a nutritional clinic, outlines the appropriate diet for each type, including which foods to include and which to avoid. Dr. Kristal worked extensively with William Wolcott, the originator of metabolic typing, and draws on scientific studies to show struggling dieters the way to practical, healthful eating for each metabolic type. Included are detailed strategies for finding freedom from out-of-control food cravings—the downfall of many a dieter..

Metabolism at a Glance (At a Glance)
Metabolism at a Glance is a complete review course of metabolism in health and disease and offers a unique approach to the study of this difficult discipline. Metabolism is a complicated subject involving complex molecules and interrelated pathways. These metabolic pathways are usually taught separately with the result that the student develops a detailed but compartmentalised approach to metabolism and frequently fails to see the overall picture and its physiological significance.
Using the at a Glance format, the book takes the student through a complete course in intermediary metabolism in an integrated manner. The same chart is repeated throughout the book with the individual pathway under study highlighted.
The book is an ideal text for introductory biochemistry courses and has established itself as an enormously popular book amongst lecturers and students alike. This third edition is fully updated and includes five new chapters to mirror those topics currently taught at undergraduate level:
1. Metabolic Channelling
2. Glucose homeostasis and Reye's Disease
3. Pentose phosphate pathway and the prodcution of NADPH
4. Tryptophan metabolism in health and disease
5. Tyrosine metabolism in health and disease.

Toxic Fat: When Good Fat Turns Bad
Toxic Fat: When Good Fat Turns Bad, provides a revolutionary new understanding of our current obesity epidemic by showing that it can be viewed as a form of cancer to be treated using the clinically proven pathway to change the expression of your genes using food as a drug to rid your body of toxic fat. For many of us, one of the first signs of toxic fat is the accumulation of excess body fat. In fact, obesity can be viewed as a form of "cancer" that is driven by toxic fat. However, only when this toxic fat begins to spread into the bloodstream does it begin to attack your other organs leading to early development of chronic disease. This is why some people can be overweight and be quite healthy, while others can be of normal weight and be quite sick. What ultimately determines your state of wellness is not your weight but the levels of toxic fat in your blood. This book changes forever how we look at the fat on our body and its impact on the future of health care in America. .
