Practical Essentials of Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy
The primary objective of this book is to teach residents, fellows, and clinicians in radiation oncology how to incorporate intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) into their practice. IMRT has proven to be an extremely effective treatment modality for head and neck cancers. It is now being used effectively in other sites, including, prostate, breast, lung, gynecological, the cervix, the central nervous system, and lymph nodes. The book will provide in a consistent format an overview of the natural course, lymph node spread, diagnostic criteria, and therapeutic options for each cancer subsite. .

Brachytherapy and IMRT: A Primer on Seed Implants and Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy for Informed Patients
This booklet is the first volume of the Dattoli Cancer Foundation's "Prostate Cancer Essentials for Survival" series. It is a guide for informed patients, especially those who are planning to have or have already undergone brachytherapy and/or Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT). As a primer, it offers the most practical and up-to-date information on these advanced radiation treatments, which are now the most utilized forms of treatment for early stage prostate cancer patients. This updated and revised edition includes the latest data on 4 Dimensional Image Guided Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (4D IG-IMRT). Three leading cancer care professionals specializing in state-of-the-art radiotherapy guide readers step by step through diagnosis, treatment and recovery. They also provide the current options for using advanced radiation therapy as a salvage treatment for surgical patients after recurrence. The authors share their wealth of knowledge and experience as members of the Dattoli Cancer Center & Brachytherapy Research Institute, which has the largest brachytherapy and IMRT program in the country..

Clinical Target Volumes in Conformal and Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy
Conformal radiation therapy represents a new challenge for radiation oncologists. It offers the prospect of either increasing the radiation dose to target tissues while delivering a similar dose to organs at risk, or reducing the dose to organs at risk while maintaining the dose to target tissues. First, lymph node areas at risk are established using the available data from pathological examination of surgical specimens and/or pattern of locoregional relapse. Then, based on a three-dimensional description of the anatomical regions where the areas at risk are located, guidelines for the delineation of the clinical target volumes are proposed. The data presented should enable the reader to make appropriate decisions regarding the selection and delineation of the target volumes when confronted with the most frequent tumor types and sites. The book will contribute to paving the way for more effective radiation oncology in the twenty-first century..

Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy: A Clinical Perspective
This work effectively responds to the pressing need for a clinically-oriented textbook that focuses on all aspects of intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT). Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy: A Clinical Perspective is divided into three sections: Fundamentals, Clinical Implementation, and Clinical Sites. The book aims to provide a practical approach oriented text for radiation oncologists and physicists interested in commencing or expanding an IMRT program. It discusses the fundamentals of IMRT including physics and biology and provides a site-by-site review (i.e. breast, prostate, etc) of IMRT treatment techniques and outcomes with practical clinical examples. The content reviews published IMRT outcome studies and suggests possible future directions for IMRT research..

Modulated Temperature Differential Scanning Calorimetry: Theoretical and Practical Applications in Polymer Characterisation (Hot Topics in Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry)
MTDSC provides a step-change increase in the power of calorimetry to characterize virtually all polymer systems including curing systems, blends and semicrystalline polymers. It enables hidden transitions to be revealed, miscibility to be accurately assessed, and phases and interfaces in complex blends to be quantified. It also enables crystallinity in complex systems to be measured and provides new insights into melting behaviour. All of this is achieved by a simple modification of conventional DSC. In 1992 a new calorimetric technique was introduced that superimposed a small modulation on top of the conventional linear temperature program typically used in differential scanning calorimetry. This was combined with a method of data analysis that enabled the sample’s response to the linear component of the temperature program to be separated from its response to the periodic component. In this way, for the first time, a signal equivalent to that of conventional DSC was obtained simultaneously with a measure of the sample’s heat capacity from the modulation. The new information this provided sparked a revolution in scanning calorimetry by enabling new insights to be gained into almost all aspects of polymer characteristics. This book provides both a basic and advanced treatment of the theory of the technique followed by a detailed exposition of its application to reacting systems, blends and semicrystalline polymers by the leaders in all of these fields. It is an essential text for anybody interested in calorimetry or polymer characterization, especially if they have found that conventional DSC cannot help them with their problems. .
