esencialmente una manera de vivir y en ellas no hay creencias, ceremonias,
paraisos ni
infiernos El
budismo es una religion; las Ensennanzas, no lo son. Si no
hubiera budismo, budista seriÂÂÂa entonces quien practica las Ensennanzas, como futbolista es quien juega al futbol y pianista quien toca el piano. Como no hay futbolismo ni pianismo, tampoco deberiÂÂÂa haber budismo. Al igual que el futbolista y el pianista, el budista autentico no requiere creer en hipotesis metafiÂÂÂsicas ni en rituales extrannos; solo necesita practicar algo. Si practica poco, obtendra pobres resultados; si practica mucho, lograra progresos notables; si practica todo el tiempo, sera un virtuoso. Y de la misma forma que para el futbolista son importantes las reglas de juego y para el pianista la teoria musical, para el budista es relevante el Orden Natural los aspectos de la naturaleza y de la experiencia que se relacionan con las instrucciones de vivir. The Teachings of the Buddha are essentially a way of living with no room for beliefs, ceremonies, rewarding heavens or punishing hells. Buddhism is a religion; the Teachings are not. If Buddhism did not exist, a Buddhist would be somebody who practiced the Teachings, like a violinist is one who plays the violin and a pianist, one who plays the piano. If there is no violinism or pianism , semantically speaking there should not be "Buddhism". As good violinists or pianists, authentic Buddhists do not need to believe in metaphysical hypotheses or strange rituals; they only need to practice something. If they practice seldom, results are poor. If they practice a lot, progress is remarkable. If they practice permanently, they become virtuosos. Similarly, as musicians should abide by musical theory, Buddhists should act in accordance with the Natural Order. (The Natural Order refers to the aspects of nature and experience that relate to the instructions to live).
