Mr. Overby Recedes: The Lost Chapter of Mr. Overby is Falling
Mr. Overby Recedes is a “lost chapter” from my novel, Mr. Overby is Falling It was always a part of the book, but I cut it during the editing process. Like many discarded things in that book, this chapter was not removed due to questions of quality. Rather, it simply seemed to take my protagonist on an un-needed side trip at a moment in the story when it seemed imperative that the plot move forward. At the time I thought that this vignette was hurtful to the story proper. And yet, I liked it a lot. Reading back through this chapter I feel that it stands very well on its own. It works as a perfectly self contained story outside the rest of the novel that spawned it..
