Indium
The book reviews the geological, mineralogical, geochemical and petrological characteristics of indium-bearing ore deposits Furthermore it develops a general metallogenic concept for indium in identifying the essential enrichment processes and their economic significance. It represents the first comprehensive study on the metallogeny of indium and covers economic aspects including production and use. Careful geological and mineralogical descriptions are given for representative examples of different deposit types with most significant characteristics being summarized at the end of each chapter..

Steady State Simulation of an Oil Refinery Using Commercial Software
In my book, Refinery Process Modeling, I present generalized techniques that may be used to model any petroleum refinery. This publication presents the development of simulation models for a typical oil refinery based on these techniques. The six major refining processes in a typical oil refinery are used to develop simulation flowsheet models. Operating data corresponding to unit test runs are presented for each process and a stepwise approach to development of the simulation models is given. The six processes for which models are developed are: 1) Crude, Vacuum, and Crude Preheat Train. 2) FCC Unit and Gas Plant. 3) Naphtha Desulfurizer/Reforming Unit. 4) Delayed Coking Unit. 5) Distillate Hydrotreating Unit. 6) HF Alkylation Unit. Appropriate drawings and diagrams are used to describe the development of the simulation flowsheet models. The models are not simulator specific and may be developed with any commercial simulator capable of modeling petroleum processes..

Act of War: A Novel
From the corridors of power in Washington to the frontlines of the war on terror, Dale Brown takes you to the heart of the action and introduces his most exhilarating character to date

In Act of War, Dale Brown goes beyond anything he's done before, taking readers deep into the new world of intelligence-focused warfare, and introducing a cutting-edge new hero: thirty-two-year-old Army Major Jason Richter, designer of a whole array of futuristic infantry weapons and devices created to hunt down a new breed of enemy with unmatched speed and lethality. With all the thrilling battle scenes and expert military maneuvers that have become the hallmark of this New York Times bestselling author, this is an intense, action-packed spectacle that combines geopolitics, terrorism, and warfare.

Near Houston, Texas, an oil refinery belonging to one of the world's largest multinational energy companies is destroyed by a "backpack" nuclear device. This is just one of many attacks being perpetrated against the company around the world by a group whose mission is to stop global corporations and government organizations from plundering the world's natural resources in the name of profit.

Before this group strikes again, Jason Richter is called in with his top-secret high-tech military unit, code-named Task Force TALON, a special joint military and FBI unit set up by the national security advisor to track down and defeat terrorists around the world. Richter believes there is only one strategy in which to snare his opponents -- find, pursue, engage, and kill. And the only way to do this is to play them at their own game: Be unconventional and swift, hit-and-run and brutal enough to strike fear into the heart of the most dedicated terrorist. Richter must also lead the way through a series of unexpected turns that eventually uncovers a mole high up within the government who is in pursuit of his own personal revenge.

If Richter fails, it won't be just the lives of his team that are lost, but America itself..

The Bradford Oil Refinery (PA) (Images of America)
The Bradford Oil Refinery holds the distinction of being the oldest continuously operating petroleum refinery in the United States. Over the past 125 years, the refinery has survived changes in ownership, fires, and economic highs and lows, and it continues to be an important supplier of lubricants and refinery specialties. The company was established in 1881 in the small village of Kendall Creek

(now the city of Bradford) by three independent oilmen: Robert Childs, Eli Loomis, and William Willis. They quickly recognized the financial opportunity of building a refinery in the heart of the oil region. The original crude oil capacity was 3,500 barrels per year. Today the refinery purchases in excess of three million barrels of crude oil annually, two-thirds of which comes from within 100 miles of the refinery..

Amine unit corrosion in refineries (EFC 46) (European Federeation of Corrosion Publications)
The corrosion of carbon steels in amine units used for gas treatment in refining operations is a major problem for the petrochemical industry. Maximizing amine unit reliability, together with improving throughput, circulation, and treatment capacity, requires more effective ways of measuring and predicting corrosion rates. However, there has been a lack of data on corrosion. This valuable report helps to remedy this lack of information by summarizing findings from over 30 plants. It covers such amine types as Methyl Diethanolamine (MDEA), Diethanolamine (DEA), Monoethanolamine (MEA) and Di-isopropanolamine (DIPA), and makes recommendations on materials and process parameters to maximize amine unit efficiency and reliability..
