Pete Grannis, of the New York Assembly Insurance Committee, is investigating alleged discrimination by insurers in denying homeowner insurance coverage to homeowners in the state's coastal regions. Aetna Life and Casualty Co and Travelers Group are being questioned about an alleged 30% decrease in policies issued since 1992. Don DeCarlo, general counsel for Travelers, responded to Grannis' inquiries stating that his company is issuing new policies on Long Island.
