Someone should have told Spiro Agnew. (the US Constitution seems to specify the Vice President preside over his own impeachment): An article from: Constitutional Commentary

From the supplier: A careful reading of the United States Constitution reveals that the Vice President is to preside over his own impeachment. Although the Constitution provides that the Chief Justice preside over an impeachment of the president, no similar provision is prescribed for vice-presidential impeachment. Thus, the Vice President, as president of the Senate, is the only officer of the Senate who may preside over vice-presidential impeachments.
