Applying the three tenets of Information Distribution Technology (IDT) involves sending information: (1) in its most general form, (2) only when necessary, and (3) in an efficient manner, in an attempt to distribute positional data throughout the battlefield as well as indicate how current positions match the intended order of battle. The process involves making use of preplanned dynamic axes of advance, distributing these axes, and limiting information exchanges to those occasions when deviations occur.
