destinations were
uncertain in an
unfamiliar land. Our
ancestors were disembarking ships in a world where people spoke in a mysterious tongue.
They were stepping on the soil of grief, hatred, injustice and bondage. There they lived among the Native Americans and shed tears together. They were walking through wars and The Depression, to reach tomorrow, only to find that tomorrow was the same as yesterday. However, each day was greeted as a new day filled with hopes and dreams.
The Floyd's were among the many people who were brought to America. They were symbols of a better day to come. The Floyd's were symbolic of the Morning Glory. This flower enjoying the coolness and stillness of the night air while waiting patiently for the dawning of the day to unfurl in glee by opening it blossoms to say thanks for this day.
Just as the Morning Glory waiting to uncoil in the morning, so did the Floyd's. A determined people who would not give up in hard times. Difficulties were minor obstacles to conquer.
