New Frontiers in Environmental and Social Labeling (Sustainability and Innovation)
The attractiveness of product labeling stems from their voluntary nature to achieve environmental and social goals. It is argued that through product price premia which reflect the willingness of consumers to pay more for green and socially conscious products, labels have the potential to generate changes in production techniques. In addition, labeling of products has become the preferred instrument for solving high profile trade disputes amongst members of the World Trade Organization. The contributions in this volume provide an indepth look at labeling and its relation to the governance of global trade. The book aims at bridging the research gaps related to the link between consumers’ perception of a label with their willingness to pay, the impact and the limitations of labeling in the event of food safety hazards, and the trade and development dimensions of labeling. As such, this volume presents research that constitutes a new frontier on issues related to the economics of labeling. .

Measuring the Value of Culture: Methods and Examples in Cultural Economics
Interest in, and acknowledgement of, the value of culture and cultural goods is increasing world-wide. So too is interest in valuing the arts so that efficient funding decisions can be made by government and private sponsors. "Measuring the Value of Culture" documents the use of methods used to put a price on cultural goods, including theatre, heritage, cultural events like arts festivals, museums, archaelogical sites and libraries. The methods discussed include economic impact studies, which use market data, as well as non-market valuation techniques like willingness to pay methods and the newer choice experiments. In addition, advances in more qualitative valuation methods are considered. The book aims to give practitioners a practical guide to conducting such valuation studies, while also providing potential funders with a means of evaluating the results. The theoretical background of the various methods, their potential problems and the kind of information they can provide is also discussed. .

Examination of Interaction Variables As Predictors of Students' Satisfaction and Willingness to Enroll in Future Web-Based Courses
Pub_AbstractText~: The impetus for this study was the need to gain a better understanding of what interaction activities in the virtual classroom affect student outcomes. The purpose was to determine which perceptions of interactions contributed to predicting student outcomes of satisfaction and future enrollment in Web-based courses, while controlling for student characteristics. The problem is that the interaction that occurs in the Web-based classroom is markedly different than what occurs in the traditional classroom setting. The study was a secondary analysis using data from 388 student evaluations of Web-based courses. Using Astin's Input-Environment-Outcome (I-E-O) conceptual framework, influences of student characteristics [inputs] and virtual classroom interactions [environment] on student outcomes were examined. Student input predictors were perceptions of computer skills; knowledge of electronic communications; number of Web-based courses taken; distance living from campus; and age. Environmental predictors included interactions with the instructor, students, technology, and perceptions of presence..
